1980-1981 IH #2 Lawn Sweeper
The basic lawn sweeper is the same as all the IH lawn sweepers before. However, the basket on this one is red, which means it was sold to match the red 82 series Cadets. The thing is, International only made that series themselves for 1 year. I know that as soon as MTD bought out the Cub Cadet line, International branded equipment like this was sold under the Cub Cadet name, and also not to match the red tractors MTD was making for IH. This means this sweeper was only made for 1 year. I have looked all over for another one some else has, but this is the only real one I have seen.
I somehow stumbled on this while going through listings on an auction website. I saw the actual sweeper and didn't think too much of it. In the background I saw something red, but thought it was a tool box or something. I went back to the listing again, looked a bit closer, a finally saw what it was. I knew what it was from an advertisement of the 82 series lineup that had both this one and the smaller one in it. When the bidding came up at the auction that day, I knew I was coming home with it.
The basket is in nice shape, as is the actual sweeper. It was used, but always kept inside. I don't plan on using this except for shows. It is also in nice enough shape that it will probably never get restored.
If you would happen to have one of these red sweepers, I would love to here about it. You can contact us through the email in the contact link.
